Millbrae Library Film Club


 Who wants to go to the movies? The Film Club screens and discusses entertaining and thought-provoking movies every month at the Millbrae Library. Whether you're a cinephile or you just want to try something new, Film Club has something for everyone. Admission is free to the general public and refreshments will be provided. 

January 26 Screening: Talk to Me (Rated R; 118 min)

In honor of Martin Luther King Day the Film Club will be screening Talk to Me, staring Don Cheadle (Avengers) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave):

"Outspoken ex-convict Ralph "Petey" Greene (Don Cheadle) talks his way onto the air at a white-owned radio station in 1960s Washington, D.C. Fueled by the new music and social upheaval of the times, he courts controversy while becoming the voice of the black movement"

After our screening we will discuss the film. Please be aware that this film is intended for mature audiences only. Refreshments will be provided.


February 11 Screening: Pride and Prejudice (2005) PG; 129 min

Make sure you are prepared to see the upcoming Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie by watching the movie based on the source material. Joe Wright's interpretation of Jane Austen's seminal novel is a fan favorite and a strong piece of cinema in it's own right. Austen diehards and people who just want some context to see the next hot zombie movie are both welcome to enjoy this special Film Club presentation.


February 25 Screening: 兒童 of Men (Rated R; 109 min)

Alfonso Cuarón's 兒童 of Men is a post-apocalyptic masterpiece where humans have lost the ability to have children. We follow a former revolutionary turned jaded public employee (Clive Owen) as he fights to lead an apparently pregnant woman to safety. Join Film Club for dystopian shenanigans and refreshments.
