San Mate County Library Gets WiFi Upgrade

WiFiThe San Mateo County Library is implementing new wireless access points. The new wireless access points will provide library patrons a faster and stable connection to the internet.

When patrons first access a new internet session from their wireless devices, they will see an access splash page. This page is where users will accept the library’s WiFi policy for up to 12 hours of uninterrupted access.

With the previous technology, multiple WiFi users would connect to one access point, thus creating congestion and causing a slow connection. The new wireless access points are smart enough to balance out the number of users with the number of wireless access points, thus maximizing the available bandwidth.

Users will connect to a single SSID, [Your Library Name],  (i.e. San Carlos Library, Millbrae Library,... etc.) and the WiFi access point will manage the connection automatically; users will not see a 1, 2 or 3 at the end of the SSID.

For help connecting to the new WiFi please see our guide on how to connect and our FAQs.
