The Bach Cello Suites: A Miracle on Four Strings

Johann Sebastian Bach's six cello suites are among the greatest masterpieces for the instrument, though their origins and function remain somewhat of a mystery. Written around 1720, they were largely unknown until they were championed by the cellist Pablo Casals at the beginning of the 20th century.
