For hundreds and hundreds of years, cordial and warm-hearted celebrations and hospitality have been repeated over and over again--from very early times, food, feast and celebration, both public and private, have been people's main social entertainment. Some of them take place annually, many toward the close of the year, a time in which the multiplicity of holidays include giving, receiving, feasting and enjoying. This lecture looks at the beautiful and intriguing paintings that depict giving, receiving, feasting, and the enjoyment of holidays and other festivities.
