USA Men's Hoop Squad Is Ready to Reclaim the Gold!

Photo of LeBron James.NBA super star LeBron James will help lead the U.S Olympic hoop team, after obtaining a long awaited NBA title this past season. James has been in the NBA since 2003 and has lost in the NBA finals twice--before finally proving to the world that he could win a trophy this past season.

James was a key player in the 2008 Beijing Olympics that helped USA basketball win their first world title since the year 2000.

USA Men’s Team Will Miss Key Players

The men’s hoop squad will miss key all star players such as point guard Derrick Rose and the 7 foot center Dwight Howard because of injury. Also--we won’t be seeing a few familiar faces from four years ago, such as Dwayne Wade, Jason Kidd, and Chris Bosh.

However, this year’s team will still be an athletic force to be reckoned with, thanks to superstars: Kobe Bryant, Kevin Love, and Blake Griffin.

There will also be 3 NBA teammates playing together on the USA team for the first time in history, from the Oklahoma City Thunder: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden.

Maybe, or maybe not. The 1992 USA basketball dream team was the most dominant group of athletes the world will ever see.

It featured names like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, John Stockton, and Magic Johnson. All but two participants on that team (including coaches) were Hall of Famers. The more recent players that make up the USA basketball teams fabric are dominant in their own way. They are still considered the world’s best basketball team, although the rest of the world’s athletes have gotten better over the years.

There really is no way of knowing which team is better, but I must say that the speed and athleticism level has gotten better in the NBA and overseas throughout the years. So if Jordan and Magic’s team did somehow (in a perfect world) play against the Bryant and James teams of late there could be an upset . . .
