Photo of Nicole Pasini.Today we shine the spotlight on another unique and talented individual from SMCL.

Getting to Know Nicole Pasini: Who Are You and Where Are You From?

“My name is Nicole Pasini, and before coming to the Bay Area, I lived in Phoenix, LA and Colorado.”

What Inspired You to Work in Libraries?

“I've always been a library user, but when I worked for a nonprofit that partnered with libraries, I really began to see the amazing scope of libraries. Libraries are places for everyone in the community to access information, learn, connect with others, and even be entertained. There aren't any other institutions that can help you prep for the SAT, file for Social Security and find a DVD of the newest season of True Blood.”

(Note: Check our ebranch online catalog and read our list of services to find exactly what we can do for you!)

What Do You Do at SMCL and Where Can We Find You?

“I manage the Woodside Library, you can find me there!”

What Do You Like Most About Your Job?

“I love working with creative, energetic staff who want to help our patrons have amazing experiences at the library!”

What Would You Tell People About Libraries That They Might Not Know?

“Libraries aren't always quiet. Come to the Woodside Library on Wednesday mornings for Mr. Mike's Musical Storytimes. You'll be blown away--and so will your toddler.”

What Are You an (Un)Official Expert On?

“Nothing in particular! I'm a big dabbler, and I love learning new things, so my expertise tends to be at the 101 level in a lot of things.”

What Are Your Hobbies?

“My wife just had a baby, so any hobbies that don't include changing diapers and cuddling my daughter are on hold. Otherwise, I'm a big DIYer and any time I can [add] a new craft or skill to my repertoire, I get pretty excited--knittingsewing, cooking, furniture rehabamateur plumbing, etc. And, of course, I love to read!”

(Note: Love reading too but need help deciding what’s next? We’ve got handy dandy lists made up of Best Sellers,
National Book Award Winners, and Man Booker Prize Winners.)

What Book, Movie, and Album Would You Take With You to a Deserted Island?

“I could watch Vertigo, read The Golden Compass by Phillip Pullman and listen to The BBC Sessions by Belle and Sebastian on the beach pretty happily for quite awhile.”

Who Is Your Favorite Fictional Character of All Time?

Matilda, from the eponymous book by Roald Dahl. She was a voracious reader, and I related to that as a kid--and now! Also, when I was 10, I really wanted to be able to levitate things using my mind.”

If You Could Have One Superpower, What Would It Be?

“I still want to be able to levitate things with my mind.”

What is Your Go-To Dessert?

“Anything with peanut butter and chocolate.”

(Note: Yum.)
