The Foster City Library’s Food & Film series continues on Friday, March 8 at 3pm with the documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi. This profile of the quest for culinary perfection is sure to provide ample food for thought.
Hidden away in a Tokyo subway station is a small sushi restaurant run by a man in his eighties. This man, Jiro Ono, practices a dedication to the craft of sushi preparation that has earned his restaurant a coveted three-star rating from the Michelin Guide, and has diehard fans making reservations months in advance.
While Jiro's younger son has opened a restaurant to mirror his, the eldest son remains alongside his father, learning and preparing to take over the business. More than just an exploration of a master chef’s psyche, this film explores the relationship between the two men-- teacher and student, father and son.
Please join us for this movie screening, and find out more about the next films we’ll gobble up! Japanese snacks will be served.
