Made for the Big Screen

LudwigSo you finally broke down and bought a television half the size of your house and you have a sound system that can frighten animals three blocks away. Now, what to watch? Luchino Visconti made films that were meant to be seen in the theater. We have DVD's of several of his films (but not The Damned).

I took them home and watched on my old fashioned size TV and was thoroughly disappointed. I remembered going to the movies to watch them when they first came out. We have The Leopard and Ludwig, among others. Visconti made films that were huge in every respect.

Epically Good

For another epic, try Sergei Bondarchuk's War and Peace. The film originally ran in exccess of 12 hours, with breaks for lunch and dinner. It's been trimmed for a mere 403 minutes so you wind up with a lot of characters and plot crammed into a relative short period of time. Nonetheless, the spectacle is impressive.

You bought the home theater…why not check out movies to match?
