Reading
aloud with your child is fundamental to preparing him for
reading on his own. And it's fun for both of you.
Before they start school a few children are able to read on
their own, but all children enjoy and benefit from being
read to. In choosing books for very young children, look for
ones that explain simple concepts - letters, numbers, shapes
and colors. Find fun and simple plots. Rhythmic language is
attractive to young childen and encourages them to read along
with you. Look for clear and colorful illustartions. Stories
that feature animals or young children are especially appealing
at this age. Most
are in the picture book section.
