    PIGS by Rachael Bell, 2000 [J636.4 B]
Filled with beautiful color photographs and simple text, this is an excellent book for early readers. It explains how farmers raise and care for pigs and how they are used for food and other products.
FREDDY THE DETECTIVE by Walter R. Brooks, 1998
[J TAPE BRO]
This classic children’s series about the want-to-be Sherlock Holmes pig is still in print and available as books on tape.

 

OLIVIA by Ian Falconer, 2000 [JP-F] Olivia is a feisty pig who has too much energy for her own good. Look for other books about Olivia.

 
FROM PIGLET TO PIG by Jillian Powell, 2001 [J636.4 P] One in the How Do They Grow? series. Shows how baby animals change as they grow to become adults. Young readers find out about the cycle of a pig.   THE BOOK OF PIGERICKS: PIG LIMERICKS by Arnold Lobel 1983 [J811 L] Thirty-eight limericks about pigs.

Another good read-aloud about pigs taking over a quiet household to have a party. McPhail often uses pigs in his children’s books.

    THE PIGS' WEDDING AND OTHER STORIES, 1990 [VID JP-P] This video is a collection of 5 favorite picture books, including Helme Heine's tale of two pigs who marry and celebrate with their friends in splendid fashion.
 
  PIGGY IN THE PUDDLE by Charlotte Pomerantz, 1974

This is the first in an early chapter book series about Poppleton the pig and his adventures in the neighborhood. The illustrations by Mark Teague help keep the gentle stories moving.

One of the best fractured-fairytale stories ever. Find out how the story really goes, as told by the Wolf.
A good read for second grade and up.
 
  POTBELLIES AND OTHER MINIATURE PIGS by Pat Storer, 1992 [636.4 S] Color photographs highlight this manual about caring for miniature pigs.
    CHARLOTTE’S WEB by E.B. White 1982 [J-WHI] Read the classic tale of Wilbur, one of literature’s most charming pigs, ingeniously saved from the butcher block by his friend Charlotte. Check out the movie and audio book as well.
 
  DUMPY LA RUE by Elizabeth Winthrop, 2001[JP-W] Dumpy La Rue is a pig with rhythm and gets the entire barnyard dancing in this bouncy read-aloud.
