Library Programs: San Mateo County Library is committed to ensuring that every child has access to early literacy opportunities so that they develop the reading skills necessary for school success and thus, success throughout their lives. The Library does this through a variety of fun and educational in-library family programs, reading programs and numerous storytimes for all ages offered in all of our 12 community branch libraries. Professional youth services librarians are available to help parents find books and materials that promote reading development and a lifelong connection with books in young children. For more information on youth and family library programs, contact Jeanine Asche, Youth, Family and Literacy Services Manger at 650.312.5312 or asche@plsinfo.org.
Library Outreach: To ensure every child in our community becomes a lifelong reader, the San Mateo County Library takes the library out to people who often cannot come to the library. To do this, we offer several outreach programs to promote early literacy opportunities for children and families and connect families with library services. The following programs help San Mateo County families and early childhood professionals raise a community of readers.
Family Reading Education
San Mateo County Library staff offers literacy classes for parents in ways to promote early literacy experiences in the home. We offer a series of programs in English or Spanish that range from a complete early literacy curriculum. . .
