San Carlos Library Is Getting a New Makerspace!

San Mateo County Libraries is so excited to announce that we are building a new makerspace at San Carlos Library! The brand-new 1000-square-foot space will be on the library’s second floor and feature exciting new technologies and opportunities for makers of all kinds!

What is a Makerspace?

A makerspace is a creative workshop with unlimited possibilities. Designed for makers of all ages and skill levels, makerspaces give patrons the opportunity to try something new, experiment with technology and tap into their creative spirit. Makerspaces are outfitted with a variety of tech and materials, including sewing machines, 3D printers, laser cutters, podcast equipment, virtual reality headsets, art supplies and more. We currently have makerspaces at our Atherton, Brisbane and Half Moon Bay libraries—with more on the way. The new makerspace at Millbrae Library set to open this spring.
