Home Internet Access

While San Mateo County Libraries can be your go-to resource to use a computer or a laptop, access WiFi, and even bring WiFi home for a week, having reliable home internet access can make a significant difference when it comes to bridging the digital divide. That’s why San Mateo County Libraries is proud to partner with the California Emerging Technology Fund, opens a new window, Hagar Services Coalition, opens a new window, and El Concilio of San Mateo County, opens a new window to promote home broadband adoption. This new partnership will allow for individuals and families, particularly those in lower incomes, to have access to reduced or free internet services.

There are many benefits to having home broadband:

  • Home broadband costs much less than data for your mobile phone.
  • You can do more online faster, and on a bigger screen – without any data limits.
  • Find and apply for jobs online quickly and easily.
  • Make your home-based business more successful.
  • Get enrolled in job-training or online adult education programs, like the Library’s free Career Online High School program.
  • Get online access to public services, like healthcare and the DMV.
  • Use online banking to send money, anytime.
  • Gain access for your children to the online resources they need to do school work – including online tutoring from the Library.

There are a lot of ways to get support in either changing to a lower-cost home internet plan, or enrolling for the first time:

Spread the word and help us bridge the digital divide by sharing this low-cost internet service with your friends and family to help improve equity in our communities.
