Growing up in Arizona, many of our family vacations involved eagerly awaited trips to California. In the mid 60's I even attended USF. But it wasn't until a trip in 1968 that I discovered the San Mateo County Coast. We had always driven 101, but this time on a whim we took Highway 1.
Wow! I had never seen anything like it. I had never even dreamt that anything like it existed. Imagine my surprise when years later, after an Air Force career and a couple of years at Library School I was offered a job in Half Moon Bay. I grabbed that with both hands and have never regretted the move.
Learn More About the Coast
There are books in our collection which deal with this part of the world, namely its history. I can recommend Half Moon Bay Memories: The Coastside’s Colorful Past and Granada: Synonym for Paradise.
Share the Coastside Love at Woodside Library
I have been walking the Coastal Trail and taking photos of my home in all its various moods, and during the months of June and July I will be displaying some of them at the Woodside Library. The Friends of the Woodside Library will be having a Meet and Greet on Saturday June 21st from 1-2PM. I would love to share these impressions with you. Stop by.
