An Evening with Authors Lisa Lucca and Mark Fiore
Authors Lisa Lucca and Mark Fiore will read from their book You Are Loved: An Email Memoir on Tuesday February 12 at 7:00pm at the Belmont Library. A wine and cheese reception will precede the event and a book selling and signing will follow.
About the Book
You Are Loved is the deeply personal true story of the intersecting lives of a man and a woman finding love, grace and meaning in a cynical world. Their chance meeting in 1982 sets in motion a lifetime connection amidst dysfunctional relationships, child rearing, and their quest for life purpose. As the years pass, their support and understanding of one another becomes the compass that navigates them through the changes and choices their souls yearn to make.
Told in nearly a decade of actual emails exchanged between them, their ongoing conversation delves into life’s biggest questions with wry humor, heartfelt poignancy and brutal honesty.
If you’d like to read a bit of the book before the event, you can preview it on the authors’ website.
A New Favorite Epistolary Novel
Last year, I wrote a blog post about how much I love epistolary novels. I have wanted to read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows for a while, so I brought it with me to Hawaii last month. I read most of the book in a day, sitting in a hammock right by the ocean. What an incredible, delightful book, perfect for a beach read! I became entangled in the characters lives and even though I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next, I also wanted to read slower so I could stay in their world a while longer. I loved how the authors incorporated real historical events into the letters, while also developing the relationships between the various characters.
Annie Barrows spoke at the Belmont Library last month and she mentioned that the book is currently being developed into a movie. If you haven’t had a chance to read this yet, I highly recommend picking up a copy at the library today!
Stephanie C hopes to see you at the Belmont Library on Tuesday February 12 at 7:00pm. If she could, she would spend every day reading in a hammock by the ocean.
