What a great week. Monday night crowds were roaring with pleasure up and down the street; Wednesday the city of San Francisco was overflowing with celebrants and paper confetti. Even my in-laws took the day off to enjoy the parade.
Orange and Black
At the Brisbane Library we were giving out commemorative Giants pumpkins for people to adorn with black sharpied beards. Other libraries were supporting the win with orange and black foods.
The high spirits have been contagious, and maybe you aren't quite ready to let go of our region's momentous win. There is a lot to reflect upon and we have the resources to help you do just that.
Giants Past and Present
Check out Giants Past & Present by Dan Fost, San Francisco Giants: 50 Years by Brian Murphy, The Original San Francisco Giants: The Giants of '58 by Steve Bitker, First Fall Classic: The Red Sox, the Giants and the Cast of Players, Pugs and Politicos Who Reinvented the World Series in 1912 by Mike Vaccaro, Game of My Life: San Francisco Giants by Matt Johanson , or Willie Mays: The Life, The Legend by James S. Hirsch.
Rare Film Clip
An interview from November 1957 with Willie Mays has just been made available online. Play the archival KPIX footage to hear Mays talk about the difficulties he faced (when the team moved to the West Coast) in trying to buy a home in San Francisco.
These titles are just the beginning--we have much, much more, enough to keep you occupied until the start of next season.

Carine Risley manages two libraries and though she is not a baseball fan by any stretch of the imagination, she is a soft touch when it comes to witnessing other people's emotional victories.
