Life of Pi book and movie

I am so excited to see Life of Pi. I read the book several years ago and it has stayed with me. When I meet someone who had read the book I always ask "Which was it?" Unless you have read the book you probably won't know what I am talking about. I will be interested to see the movie and see how Ang Le handles the development of that question. I suggest that if you haven't read the book before seeing the movie, do so. My suggestion might change once I have seen the movie but for now that is my advice. I am so looking forward to the movie. The photography looks beautiful. I think though because movies tend to be action oriented that the beginning of the book might not be as well drawn as it is in the book. It is storytelling within a story within a story. Let me know when you do read it - so which was it?
