Escape to the Coast
I love to go out to the coast, and especially enjoy the little town of Pescadero. They have Duarte's Tavern, famous for their artichoke soup, a bakery that makes awesome artichoke french bread, and several bed and breakfasts that make for a nice getaway.
Adorable Goats, Delicious Cheese
But did you know that Pescadero is also the home of Harley Farms Goat Dairy? Harley Farms is a restored 1910 dairy farm, with 200 alpine goats on nine acres of pasture. It is a working farmstead dairy that consistently wins the American Cheese Society awards, and hold two international World Cheese Show medals. You can taste & purchase any of their freshly made cheeses, take a tour, or attend one of their special events that includes a farm tour, five-course seasonal dinner, flowers, and candlelight in their restored Victorian hayloft.
About a year ago, Foster City Library had a cheese education program with special guests from the Cowgirl Creamery. Let us know if you think it's time for more cheese!

Barbara S. is currently a Library Assistant for the Foster City Library. When asked to participate in library eBranch blogging, her immediate response was "yes". There was just one problem. . .she had no idea what a blog really is, since spending time "surfing the web" is not one of her favorite pastimes. That said, she decided that the opportunity to do something new, especially since it involved writing, was worth the time it would take to conquer the dreaded learning curve.
