Listen Up! May 2010

Soldier of LoveSade Is Back!

Sade has returned to the airwaves after almost a ten year absence. I wish I could say that I love her new album, Soldier of Love but I don't. Yes, it's darker and more mature than her previous work but I'm just not feeling it. Someone please tell me what I'm missing.

TransferenceI Heart Spoon

Spoon's new albumTransference does not disappoint. Their new album reminds me of some of their earlier records, like Kill the Moonlight and Gimme Fiction. My favorite track is "Who Makes Your Money". If you really enjoyed their last record, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga, this album may not thrill but give it a chance. Spoon played live at the Fox Theatre in Oakland in April, maybe I saw you there!

The Crooked VulturesThem Crooked Queens of Foo

Them Crooked Vultures consists of Dave Grohl, Josh Holmes, and John Paul Jones, talk about a supergroup! Their debut album sounds a lot like a Queens of the Stone Age record, surprise, surprise. That doesn't mean I don't like it, because I do. This a much heavier record than I would normally listen to, but hey I can rock out too! Listen to "New Fang", "Reptiles", and "Nobody Loves Me & Neither Do I".
