California Youth Chinese Symphony (CYCS), 加州青年國樂團, is a non-profit organization serving the bay area and nationwide. It has a mission of promoting musical diversity and enriching cultural lives of our communities by introducing Chinese traditional music and instruments. We provide high quality and diversified education on Chinese traditional instruments and creatively integrate East-West music using both Chinese and western instruments. Millbrae Tae Kwon Do Black Belt
Inducted into Taekwondo hall of fame in 2011, Taekwondo Black Belt is a martial art organization in the city of Millbrae, headed by Grand Master Heang Ki Paik who studied the Chang Moo Kwan style. Taekwondo is an amalgamation of Chinese, Japanese and traditional Korean fighting style and has become the world's most commonly practiced martial art. The mission of the school is to teach Taekwondo techniques in an environment which fosters traditional values such as respect, discipline, humility, and compassion. Satsuki-Kai Chorus Group
Satsuki-Kai, a non-profit organization founded in 1957, soon after WWII, major Japanese companies returned to San Francisco. Japanese wives who accompanied their husbands needed help in understanding the language and the local customs. Local members of the YW/YMCA assisted the Japanese wives in learning the English language and American customs. Today the organization does outreach programs, cultural events, visiting senior centers, etc. and working with other community organizations and carries out its original goals of promoting mutual understanding between Japanese ladies and ladies in the US. Performed at President Obama’s Inaugural Celebration ’09 at the Smithsonian, President Clinton’s Inaugural Celebration ’97 at the Smithsonian and many more. Founded in 1982 by Artistic Co-Directors Nancy Wang and Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo, longstanding San Francisco artists who have contributed greatly to the Asian American performing arts movement. Eth-Noh-Tec presents three cultural workshops and six storytelling programs as well as original plays 300-400 times nationwide each year, reaching over 250,000 cross-generational and cross-cultural audience members per year. Millbrae Youth Chamber
Both "Arriang" and "Shin Arriang", a famous Korean folk song of original and new version are beautifully arranged for chamber orchestra. Millbrae Youth Chamber, a mix of middle school and high school students, was formed by Michael Chang who was in the 8th grade in Taylor Middle School in July 2013 to promote happy and peaceful community. They have been invited to help fundraising for many events in the city of Millbrae, including Millbrae Library Autumn Festival, Millbrae mayor inauguration ceremony, and first Korean Cultural Festival.
