Pet Assisted Therapy teams and their handlers are from the Peninsula Humane Society & the SPCA’s Paws for Tales program.

Ken Napior has visited about 104 National Parks and National Monuments. He is a retired structural engineer with 27 years of experience as a Boy Scout Leader. He is also an American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid Instructor.

Our group of high school teens will read Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and then break the audience into small groups for activities based upon the book.  Some kids will learn how to be junior reporters and interview witnesses.  Younger kids can do a simple craft based on the book.  

Ideally we want school aged kids for the reporter project, but the craft will be fine for ages 4+.

Have a reluctant reader? Studies show children who are reluctant to read in front of peers are much less anxious with an animal present. Children don't perceive animals to be judgmental; mere animal presence helps them become more confident readers. Pet Assisted Therapy teams and their handlers are from the Peninsula Humane Society & the SPCA’s Paws for Tales program.

Dave Rocha has performed with his group for more than 20 years. He's played in several major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. His band plays a mix of jazz standards (by Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane, etc.) “pop” tunes (Cole Porter, Gershwin and Jobim) and original compositions. Dave Rocha on trumpet, Keith Saunders on keyboard, Sam Bevan on bass, and Peppe Merrola on drums.
