The establishment of new licensed entertainment districts in the late 1600’s unleashed a creative explosion in Edo (present day Tokyo). This Docent Lecture will feature paintings and woodblock prints that are juxtaposed with textiles, ceramics, lacquers and other daily-life objects from the Edo period (1915 – 1868). On exhibit at the Asian Art Museum from February 20 to May 10.

This slide talk will illuminate a landmark exhibition of fashion masterworks from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Tracing the evolution of fashion from 1910 to 1980, High Style will reveal the breadth of this world-class collection, with seminal pieces by some of the 20th century’s most important American and European fashion designers. The costume treasures which have inspired the slide talk are on exhibit at the Legion of Honor from March 14 through July 19th, 2015.
