Toddler Creative Movement Class

Description:

The library will host a special Toddler Creative Movement Class with dance movement specialist, Patricia Bulitt. In addition to developing gross motor skills, the children learn to follow instruction and have fun as well! Patricia will lead the children with music and props, giving caretakers ideas to continue the fun at home. Primarily, for ages 18 mos to 3 years, but all ages are welcome. This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Portola Valley Library.

Dig It: Digital Short Movie Project for Teens Workshop (Filming)

Description:

This program will be a three part workshop (one per week) and by the end the teens will have a completed movie to submit to the SMCL Teen Film Festival. This week you'll learn shot techniques and get hands on experience working with cameras! The workshops will be taught by local film professor, Elena Oxman. Bring your own movie equipment or rent equipment from the Belmont Library to use! Teen and guardian must sign liability form before renting out equipment (available at the front desk starting December 2013). Ages 12-19.

An Evening with Author Stefania Shaffer

Stefania Shaffer will discuss her second book, 9 Realities of Caring for an Elderly Parent: A Love Story of a Different Kind. Based on her experiences caring for her mother, the book is a funny, compassionate account of what you can expect from your daunting role if you are the adult child coming home to care for an elderly parent until the very end. In addition to writing novels, Shaffer teaches English Language Arts to seventh-graders. Light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of the Belmont Library.
