The Singing Wood Marimba Band members are classically trained percussionists with roots in classical (chromatic) marimba. The founder, Laura Mallon, has decades of experience teaching and arranging for traditional "Western" percussion ensembles. The band now focuses on the Zimbabwean Shona style of marimba playing. This music offers exceptional melodic and polyrhythmic variety -- from the very simple to the extremely complex – appealing to all ages. A great concert for the entire family!
