This documentary investigates incidents of hunger experienced by millions of Americans and shows how hunger poses serious economic, social and cultural implications for the United States. It also proposes solutions to the problem. A representative from San Mateo County’s local food bank, Second Harvest Food Bank,will be on hand to answer questions about local issues. Star Party

Description:

The Portola Valley Nature and Science Committee is once again hosting a Star Party at the Town Center. This is a great opportunity to do guided viewing through telescopes provided by local amateur volunteers. Visitors are encouraged to bring warm clothes and if you need a flashlight please cover it with red cellophane and avoid pointing at people's eyes so they do not lose their dark adaptation. The event will be held between the soccer and softball fields. Stop into the Alder Room for a special storytime, craft and other astronomy related activities.
