Description:

Don’t carve your Halloween pumpkin by yourself! Join the community in the annual library pumpkin carving contest. Get inspired by your neighbor’s designs and compete to win in one of three categories: Scariest Pumpkin, Most Beautiful Pumpkin, and Funniest Pumpkin. Children who want to do their own carving will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Bring your own pumpkin and supplies or use the library’s supplies. Limited free pumpkins will be available. This program is in partnership with the Brisbane Lions.

This docent presentation will review Surrealism and the major players in the movement, in honor of the exhibit, Partners in Surrealism, taking place at the Legion of Honor, July 14 to October 14. The program will highlight the museum’s collection of Surrealist artists, including Tanguy, Donati, Matta and Miro. It will explore the connections with Oceanic art, which served as an inspiration to these artists.

Paley was the founder of CBS. His collection includes painting, sculptures and drawings, ranging from the late 19th century through the early 1970s.
