A Taste Worth Acquiring
I've heard that the music of Philip Glass is an acquired taste. If so it's something I've acquired a long time ago and continue to savor. One afternoon I was sitting in my car down at Princeton Harbor listening to Richard Glass Solo Piano. Just in time for Witchita Vortex Sutra one of our rare thunderstorms blew through. There's drama!
Glass is Versatile
He writes symphonies, of which Heroes Symphony is my favorite. He has written several operas. There is an excellent video of his opera Kepler, a dramatization of the life of the astronomer Johannes Kepler. Another opera La Belle et la Bete was inspired by the film by Jean Cocteau. If you visit the Philip Glass website you can stay up to date on his projects and also his appearances.
Give him a try.
