In Praise of All Things Pumpkin
The month of October approaches, and around here people's thoughts turn to pumpkins, pumpkin pie, pumpkin ice cream, and, above all else, the Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival, which is kicked off by the big Pumpkin Weigh-Off. The Half Moon Bay Library will be closed over the weekend of October 15th and 16th, but stop by Saturday morning for the Costume Contest. Some of us will be acting as judges.
To get a feeling for how this all got started, check out the DVD Pumpkin Madness. Of course, sometime during the month you'll want to stop off at a pumpkin patch to choose just the right gourd, and then go home and practice some Extreme Pumpkin Carving. On your way back, stop off at M Coffee (our Main Street coffee house) and get a cone of Mitchell's Pumpkin Ice Cream.
The traffic is always heavy on October weekends, so you might as well stick a Smashing Pumpkins CD in your player for the drive.
