I’m in the middle of reading The Magic Room: A Story about the Love We Wish for Our Daughters by Jeffrey Zaslow and really enjoying it. The book is about a bridal store in Michigan, so over the weekend, I emailed my friend who lives in Michigan to tell her she should read it. She emailed me back and told me she had just read in the paper that the author died. He was in a fatal car accident while on his book tour in Michigan to promote The Magic Room.
An Author of Real Stories
In addition to The Magic Room, Zaslow wrote The Girls from Ames: A Story of Women and a Forty-Year Friendship. Both of these books are touching portraits of relationships and small town life. He had a knack for telling stories respectfully but with so much detail you feel as if you know the subjects.
Co-Author of Important Stories
Zaslow was also the co-author of several recent books, but his name is probably often overlooked:
- The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch with Jeffrey Zaslow
- Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope by Gabrielle D. Giffords and Mark E. Kelly with Jeffrey Zaslow
- Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters by Chesley Sullenberger with Jeffrey Zaslow
Author Bio:
Stephanie C was really sad to hear that Jeffrey Zaslow passed away this weekend. She is loving The Magic Room and was looking forward to seeing what he would write next.
