Friends of the Library
Help Re-establish the Friends of the Library!
After a multi-year hiatus, the East Palo Alto Library is interested in reorganizing the Friends of the Library (FOL) group. We are looking for members of the community within East Palo Alto to help us re-establish this group. The initial group will be called the Friends of the Library Steering Committee and they will be charged with determining the long-term vision and mission, the bylaws, the goals and objectives, the establishment charitable organization status, and will have the opportunity to comprise the group’s initial board of directors. In addition, this committee will set the precedent for any future members of the FOL and the direction this organization takes.
What is a Friends of the Library Group?
The Friends of the Library consists of committed community members who have a vested interest in supporting the library. They offer support in various ways; such as, grant writing and fundraising, program development, book sales, and providing information to the community about library events. Most importantly, as the representative of the East Palo Alto community, the Friends group informs the library of the communities wants and needs. The East Palo Library is interested in renewing their Friends of the Library group and hopes to fulfill the needs of the community in new and interesting ways.
2 Informational Meetings
The library will be holding two informational meetings on Tuesday March 22 and Friday March 25th from 6:30-7:30 in the EPA Council Chambers. You can RSVP at the Library information desk. The same information will be given at both meetings.
