Foster City's New Hours

Outside view of the Foster City Library. In recent years, the City of Foster City was able to fund 3 extra open hours each week to supplement the hours funded by the San Mateo County Library. Beginning in January, those 3 hours have been eliminated due to funding constraints. The community was surveyed and the consensus was to close the library at 6pm instead of 9pm on Thursday evenings. All other hours will remain the same.

We're Still Available

Focusing on the positive, we like to think of the many library service hours available to everyone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Round-the-clock services are available at our eBranch (where you are now). Here you can research databases, reserve and renew materials, pay fines, find homework help, and even download ebooks and music. And that’s just for starters.

Returns for Your Convenience

Even if the library building is closed, it is still possible to return materials by using our new automated materials handling system or the old-fashioned book drop just outside the front door. (If you use the automated system, you can print out a receipt to keep a record of your returns.)

Happy New Year from Foster City Library Staff

Best wishes for the new year and we look forward to seeing you at the Foster City Library soon (just not between 6pm and 9pm Thursday nights).
