Lebovitz has worked in the hallowed Chez Panisse, written a number of cookbooks, and followed his dream of living in Paris. This book regales his stories of living in Paris, including the mundane, such as finding shoe laces and dressing up to take out the garbage, and includes numerous mouth watering recipes. Paris My Sweet: A Year in the City of Light (and Dark Chocolate) by Amy Thomas
This is a book after my own heart. The writer is living the high life of a single woman in New York City, when she is offered a job in Paris. She writes about the sweets she encounters, and intersperses notes on New York. She is torn between her two loves, New York and Paris… the cupcake and the macaron. Well, she goes to prove you can have your cupcake, and macarons too. A delicious and humorous read.
Paris in Love by Eloisa James
I listened to this on CD, and it was just like living in Paris… well, almost. In 2009, New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James took a leap that many people dream about. She sold her house, took a sabbatical from her job as a Shakespeare professor, and moved her family to Paris. Paris in Love chronicles her joyful year in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Obviously this book details more than food explorations, she moved there with her husband and two adolescent children in tow… but there are plenty of tidbits about bistros, bakeries, and the like.
Chocolate & Zucchini: Daily Adventures in a Parisian Kitchen by Clotilde Dusoulier
Ms. Dusoulier is a twenty-seven-year-old Parisian who developed a love of food after moving to San Francisco. Upon her return to her native France, she started her blog and wrote this book, over 75 recipes featuring the local flavors of Paris.
