Is Pastry Funny?
The book, Cake Wrecks: When Professional Cakes Go Hilariously Wrong by Jen Yates, is a hoot! "A Cake Wreck is any cake that is an intentionally sad, silly, creepy, or inappropriate."
In other words, the professional cake decorator should have known better!
Just look at the cake on the cover of the book. It says, "Best Wishes, Suzanne Under Neat that We will Miss You".
The author is very clever with the comments underneath each photo. At a family gathering, we brought out the book. In a very serious voice, my nephew read aloud the comments for each cake. He had us falling down laughing!
We were inspired to create some of our own. Here are our cake wrecks:
Do you think that Eric wanted the words "sprinkles" or the tasty round, thin candies?
Is "Dav" an alias or why is his name in quotes?
If you have to see even more cake wrecks, check the author's Cake Wrecks blog for frequent updates.
Marsi O.R. is a youth services librarian at the Belmont Library. Ask her about Antarctica (cold), cooking (desserts are best), or math (E=mc2). She may not answer, but you can ask!
