Local Tidepools

Weekend Fun

Take a trip down to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, located just north of Half Moon Bay in Moss Beach, and you can see starfish, anemones and more in their natural habitats, and all for free. You may even spot an Eastern Pacific Red Octopus. This one has caught a crab.

Getting Background Info

Find out more about the creatures that call the Reserve home in Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest or  The Natural History of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve.

Preparing for the Adventure

The Friends of the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve have more information on visiting, as well as a very helpful blog post on what kind of shoes to wear.

Author Bio:

When she was a child, many pairs of Erin M.'s shoes met their doom at the tidepools.
