Over the long 4th of July weekend, I picked up One Day by David Nicholls. I intended to take a little break from homework and just read a few pages, but I ended up sitting and reading the whole thing! Once I got into the story, I could not put it down.
You'll Fall in Love Too
One Day begins on the night of Emma and Dexter's college graduation and covers their lives through their twenties, thirties, and early forties. While a book spanning this length of time could become tedious, Nicholls only writes about one day in each year they are friends. Both funny and sad, One Day is the perfect book for a lazy summer day!

Another great love story that spans several decades is Sarah Manyika's In Dependence. Like Nicholls, Manyika has a way with words, transporting the reader into Vanessa and Tayo's world. Her elegant prose leaves the reader wanting more!
Stephanie C. is working on her Master's degree in Library and Information Science and would like to become a children's librarian when she graduates. Some of her favorite books are Persuasion by Jane Austen, Summer Sisters by Judy Blume, and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.
