Get a Library Card

To apply for a library card, fill out the form below and click "Submit".

You will receive your card in the mail or get a confirmation when your library card is ready to be picked up. This may take up to 3 business days. In the meantime please read our Welcome to San Mateo County Library brochure.

On your first trip to the Library, please bring a picture I.D. with your current address. If you are under 18, you will need to come with a parent or guardian. If you are under 18 and in foster care, you can sign up for a library card without parental permission; ask your social worker, group home staff or foster parent to email us or call 650.851.0147, ext. 227 to verify your status as a foster youth.

If you are a California resident, but not a resident of San Mateo County, please contact one of our libraries for more information on obtaining a card.

If you are a resident of Burlingame, Daly City, Redwood City, Menlo Park, South San Francisco, San Bruno or San Mateo or a student at Canada College, College of San Mateo or Skyline College please use this form to apply for your library card.
